When you do something because you love it and feel
passionate about it, success will follow.
NEET is
one of India's most challenging admission tests, with lakhs of students taking
it each year. Unfortunately, only a few hundred applicants pass NEET and gain
admission to their selected medical colleges. We believe this demonstrates the
level of competition that every prospective medical student must face to
realize his or her dream of becoming a good doctor. With the high level of
competition, a NEET candidate should prepare ahead of time if he or she wants
to do well. Whether you're a class 11 student just beginning your NEET journey
or a class 12 student who will be taking the NEET exam in the coming months, you
must all buckle up. "An hour of preparation saves hours of doing."
This is why every NEET expert recommends that you layout your NEET approach
(study plan) before you begin studying.
Having a
timetable will help you manage your time, enabling you to balance your
schoolwork with your preparation for the competitive examination. When you
study a book, you should look at the table of contents, the index, and the
illustrations to understand how it's organized. For example, if you want to
learn more about the digestive system in biology class, you can look up the
"digestive system" in the table of contents. If there were no index
in the book, you wouldn't be able to find that information. In the same way, a
proper study plan will help you ace the NEET with ease.

Being in
the field of medical education for the past 22 years, let’s hear some tips to
keep in mind while preparing your NEET study plan from him. You know yourself
better than anyone else, don’t blindly follow any timetable. Do your research
and make modifications accordingly, says David Pillai.
Before you
start preparing the study plan, you should have a thorough knowledge of the
syllabus.
1.
Understand Your Study Style
The first
thing you need to do is figure out your learning style. Do you like to study
alone or with friends? Do you like to take short breaks in between studying, or
do you prefer long hours of studying? Try experimenting with different ways of
studying until you find the one that works best for you. Then start your study
plan preparation after that.
2.
Set Realistic Goals
Your goals
should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely (SMART). You
can’t expect to learn all the syllabus of NEET within 2 months if you did not
even touch your books all year long. Set small goals and work towards them step
by step so that it is easier for you to reach them.
3.
Start studying early
Planning
your studies early will help you stay motivated throughout the preparation
process and also give you ample time to revise everything before appearing for
the main exam. Also, start revising everything from day one to retain more
information instead of waiting until the last couple of months before the exam.
4.
Smart work
Smart work
is better than hard work; however, smart work takes time, effort, and patience.
Do not be afraid to change things if they are not working for you. Make sure
you are comfortable with what you are working on, and then only you will be
able to perform better.
5.
Time for Mock test
Never
forget to set some time for Mock tests. Attempting mock tests, and solving
previous year's question papers will help you determine where you stand in
terms of your preparation. It gives you an idea of which chapters/topics are
important. It also helps you attempt the paper in 3 hours.
6.
Self-Analysis
After
solving the question papers, analyze your performance. Identify the topics that
you are comfortable with and those that require improvement. With this, you can
make minor changes to your study plan based on your strengths and weaknesses.
7.
Revision is the key to success.
No matter
how smartly you have prepared, if you are not able to revise properly, there
are chances that what you have studied will not be retained by your mind during
examination time. Hence, revision of all subjects needs to be done regularly
and timely so that retention is done properly.
