The FMGE is a mandatory licensing examination for medical graduates who wish to practice medicine in India. It is also known as Screening Test. The test is conducted twice every year, once in June and again in December. This exam is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. To attend this exam the candidate must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). The NBE conducts the FMGE every year using Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam is held in the English language for a total duration of five hours.

A foreign medical graduate can take the FMGE
as many times as possible. The National Board of Examinations declares the
