Dr David K Pillai,

Fake news, when repeated, gains the authority of the truth. There are different types of news doing the rounds regarding studying MBBS in abroad. What troubles students who are aspiring to be doctors is the authenticity of these news and whether to pursue their dream career in medicine. We recently got in touch with renowned educationist, Dr. David K Pillai, whose able supervision has crowned Kings International Medical Academy as the best institute for medical studies in the country. Dr. Pillai discussed how fake news are diverting students to the wrong path and what they should believe in.

Regarding the Fake News of Medical Studies

Travelling overseas for medical education is always a bewilderment for students as well as parents for all the obvious reasons. They worry about quality of education, safety of the students, acceptability of their foreign MBBS degree, food and accommodation, etc. Then, there are people who spread rumours saying that this is not valid or got.

According to Dr. David K Pillai, “You’ll mostly see all these news circulating in the social media. You won’t see any of these information on the official website of the particular college or organization. The reason being these are fraudulent.”

It’s quite safe and meaningful to study medicine overseas. In India, around 25,000 enthusiastic students fly out to a foreign country every year for pursuing MBBS. Some of the noteworthy reasons include affordable fees, experienced faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, high-end technology, premium quality medical education, extensive hands-on practice, etc.

  • Statistics from Ministry of External Affairs reveal that 2,61,406 medical students left the Indian shores in 2020 to study at a foreign institute.

As Dr. David K Pillai recommended, “Whenever you come across any confusing news about medical studies abroad, please check its genuineness at the official website of the organization concerned.”

“The reason is any announcement made by the government or any private institution will always be available at their official portal. Students need not trust anything else, other than what’s official,” he added.

If students have doubts, they can directly contact the organization to get their confusions clarified. A reputed institute will always entertain queries and answer reliably.

What are the Perks of Studying in a Foreign Medical Institute?

Keeping aside the rumours, Dr. David K Pillai said that studying medicine at a foreign institute, in fact, has its own set of perks. Below are a few to mention:

  • World-class medical universities
  • Global facility providing unparalleled exposure
  • More seats compared to universities in our home country
  • Access to high-end technology and lab facilities
  • MBBS degree acknowledged worldwide
  • Familiarity with wider variety of diseases
  • Knowledge about various healthcare systems
  • Learn to be more social, persistent and resilient

Today, studying abroad has become a lucrative industry which contributes billions to the national and world economies as well as lands jobs with lakhs. ICEF Monitor conducted a study which revealed India to be the 2nd largest provider of students to the international arena.

Dr. David K Pillai has travelled the world to identify the best destination where Indian students can receive quality medical education. He, then, considered Philippines, the archipelagic South Asian country which is a prominent destination for medical studies. Kings International Medical Academy, chaired by Dr. David K Pillai, facilitates the study of MBBS in Philippines in association with Davao Medical School Foundation.
